House change? 15 tips to make a quick and easy move

A move can become a real headache if it is not planned well, taking into account certain tips beforehand that will help you make the move more bearable, easy and practical.

But before you start with the move, you may be wondering: Do they do it for me or do I do it? The decision will depend on your budget, the time you have, the people who can help you.

If you decide to make the move yourself, think about the volume of boxes that you have to move from your home to your new home to find out if you are going to need to hire a van or are you going to use your vehicle or are you going to borrow it.

You will also have to take into account if you are going to need to hire a crane to lift the furniture up the facade since the property may not have an elevator or it may have an elevator but the furniture does not fit and it does not fit up the stairs of the property ...

Another important aspect is to know if you will be able to park your car or van near the property where you are going to make the move.

And now that you've made up your mind, let's get to work! We started the move.

At Clavis Grup we share with you these 15 tips so that your move is perfect:

1. At home we tend to accumulate more things than we need or need so a move may be the perfect time to clean up and get rid of things that you no longer need. Before moving, spend some time sorting out the things that you are going to take to your new home and the things that you will no longer need and will not take with you. Also check if what you have decided to take with you will fit in your new home or if you should rent a storage room to store, for example, the most seasonal things. Think about donating those things that you are not going to take. There are NGOs or companies that take care of collecting clothes, furniture or toys in your area and others you have to take. Also in your area you can find containers of used clothes and shoes.

2. If possible, start 3 weeks before the move to collect boxes or buy them from the moving company you have hired. There are different types of boxes. One type of box that will be very useful is cardboard closet boxes to store clothes. You will also have to buy bubble wrap, plastic, tape ...

3. Prepare your Survival Kit for the night of the move and the day after:

We usually make the mistake of storing everything in boxes, bags ... without taking this aspect into account, so to make your life easier, separate things that you cannot miss in a suitcase: bedding, pajamas, towels, toiletry bag. bathroom…

4. Now that you have the Survival Kit to pack the rest of the things, it is better to follow an order. Start packing first everything you don't need for your day to day. And do not fill the boxes too much that later you will not be able to move them!

5. Store the things in each room separately and then mark each box with the name of the room that corresponds.

6. Do not close the boxes until they are complete as sometimes things can be loose and if we do not close the boxes it will be easier to complete them.

7. Wrap the most sensitive objects with a roll of bubble wrap, old sheets ...

8. Don't put tape directly on furniture. It can spoil your furniture and it is also difficult to remove. Whenever possible, wrap the furniture well with plastic, bubbles, etc. Also remember to wrap the corners of the furniture with love and if possible separate the crystals from the tables and also wrap them with bubble wrap, etc.

9. When furniture is disassembled, it is very common to lose the screws and smaller pieces, so as you disassemble them, store them separately in plastic bags or cardboard boxes and label them with the name of the furniture to which they belong.

10. As we close boxes it is important to pile them up. If possible you can set up a room for all the boxes and if it is not possible, leave them in a corner or space that does not obstruct the passage or hinder your life until you go to your new home.

11. When you have everything stored in boxes, try to follow this order when loading it into the van or vehicle that you are going to use: first load the bulkiest pieces of furniture, then the heaviest boxes and finally the lighter ones on top of the others or the furniture and above all, secure with ropes so that nothing falls out!

12. And finally! The long-awaited moment has arrived. You are now in your new home! Now breathe and try to start in this order: first assemble the furniture, then unpack the boxes if it can be in order of stay. It is better to start putting kitchen and bathroom utensils because they are for daily use.

13. So that the boxes that are left empty take up less space and do not bother you, you see folding the empty boxes at the same time that they are being emptied and leave them stacked in a corner.

14. The last thing you will have to do is plug in the refrigerator (at least 24 hours must pass to be able to do it and not have problems)

15. Celebrate that the move is finally over and enjoy your new home!
